The Department of English offers an education that stresses both the knowledge and effective use of language and an understanding and appreciation of literature. Excellence in both writing and literary studies is the fundamental aim of the core program and of the rigorous and comprehensive concentrations that prepare students for graduate training in English or professions such as law and medicine, for professional writing careers in a variety of fields, or for teaching at the secondary level of education.Majors Offered
