Bachelor of Arts in Communications
The Communications
major requires 36 common credits: Communications 120, 125, 135, 210, 211,
220, 230, 248, and 485, and 20 additional credits in a concentration. The
concentration must be declared prior to registration for the junior year.
Although not required, a minor course of study is recommended by the Department
of Communications.
The Corporate Communications concentration requires:
Communications 333, 351, 358 or 412, plus either two additional communication
electives or one communication elective and one business elective from the
following set of courses: Communications 304, 316, 348, 408, Business
Administration 215, 265, 311, 312, 319.
The Mass Communications concentration requires Communications 316, 336, 348, and two approved electives from the following set of courses: Communi-cations 304, 310, 315, 333, 336, 348, 422, 424 and 426.
The New Media Communications concentration requires Communications 310, 315, 426, and two approved electives from the following set of courses: Communications 316, 333, 336, 348, 358, 408, and 422.
The Cultural Studies Communications concentration requires: Communi-cations 251, 252, 301, plus either two additional communication electives or one communication elective and one interdisciplinary elective from the following set of courses: Communications 304, 316, 333, 336, 348, 408, 422, and 424. If choosing an interdisciplinary elective, it must compliment the student’s plan of study and be approved by the advisor and Department Chair prior to the student’s registration.
