2009 Honorary Degree Recipients

In recent years, Elizabethtown College has awarded an honorary degree to the following individuals:

 

2008    Dr. Arthur Levine, president of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation

2007    Derek Hathaway, chairman and chief executive officer of Harsco Corporation. Pennsylvania Senator David Brightbill, former state legislator. Pennsylvania Senator Noah Wenger, former state legislator.  

 

2006    Christopher Gates, executive director of the Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement. John Craig, former U.S. ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman and Elizabethtown College scholar-in-residence. Frank M. Masters Jr., noted Harrisburg-area philanthropist and civil engineer.

 

2005    Anne Beiler, the founder of Auntie Anne’s, Inc., franchisor of the world’s largest mall-based pretzel franchise, Auntie Anne’s Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzels. Doris Gordon, founder of Elizabethtown’s occupational therapy program. Susan Eckert, president and chief executive officer of the United Way of Lancaster County (Pa.).

 

2004    The Rev. Dr. Nathan Baxter, rector of the St. James Episcopal Church. Douglas Pfautz, Elizabethtown Borough Council past president.
