Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Alpha Alpha Theta Chapter

The Alpha Alpha Theta Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta was founded in 1990. Our colors are cardinal and black and our motto is “Truth, Sincerity, Design.” English majors and minors are eligible to be invited to join if they have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, are in the top 35% of their class, and have taken two English courses beyond their Power of Language requirement.

The club sponsors a campus-wide event every year. In the past they have hosted local writers of children’s books and sponsored English Department faculty research by inviting them to present at their annual induction ceremony, usually held in the fall semester. Philanthropic activities include reading to toddlers at the local area day care centers, making books on tape for the blind, and participating in “Into the Streets,” a campus-wide community service program.

To raise money Sigma Tau Delta members have sold study guides for graduate admissions exams (LSAT, GRE, MCAT), held used book sales, sold roses, and collaborated with other English and Education clubs in their activities.
