Campus Identity

Town and Gown

Elizabethtown College has reatined a respected and positive image within the local community of Elizabethtown. The College needs to contiue to have good relations with the town and the surrounding community.

Campus Edge

The College and the town of Elizabethtown must function together as peaceful neighbors. However, there must also be a definitive line or distinction between the two. The experience of walking or driving onto campus from town should take one through a change of feelings. When you stop onto campus, you should know you have entered a special place.

Entering Campus

First impressions mean everything for visitors. The feeling they get from the physical aesthetics of campus and surrounding community are at the heart of their impressions. Where future students, parents, current students, and visitors enter campus should be celebrated with ornamental gates, signs, and plantings.

Campus Vocabulary

Establishing a palette of site furnishings such as light standards, types of benches, types of trash receptacles, information kiosks, bollards, emergency telephones, a vegetative palette, consistent signage, and consistent walkways creates an identity for the campus that sets is apart from the surrounding town and other colleges. The standardized palette will also aid in future development on campus by managing design and style options.
