Academic
This precinct includes all classrooms, laboratories, libraries and meeting areas where academic instruction, research and lecturing takes place. This precinct should remain intact except for the addition of two areas.
The precinct can grow to accommodate the possibility of future academic buildings. Two areas for expansion are the areas across Alpha Drive from the Wenger Center and directly east of Schlosser Dormitory and the area directly east of Esbenshahe Hall and west of Lake Placida.
Administrative
This precinct includes offices and meeting centers that are primarily dedicated to the administrative duties of the institutions. The Administrative Precinct should undergo very minimal change.
Support
This precinct includes building services, physical plant, Campus Security, and the Health Center. Currently there are no immediate needs for additional support areas. However, in the years to come, the need will arise. This plan proposes an additional area to be assigned to the Support Precinct.
Athletic/Recreational
Athletic precincts include all interior and exterior varsity and intramural playing fields, stadiums, gymnasiums, natatoriums, and creation centers. This precinct has grown to include areas south of Founders Hall. Funning east from the southernmost corner of the property toward Campus Drive, the precinct extends along the high point of the campus.
The need to increase this precinct stems from the need to accommodate a new track team, lacrosse team, improve existing fields and the increased popularity of intramural and recreational activities on campus.
Residential
This precinct includes all housing for undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students on campus. In anticipation of increased enrollment while accommodating current housing needs, this precinct will need to grow to include areas east of Brinser and east of Founders Hall.
Social/Cultural
This precinct generally includes student unions, amphitheaters, playhouses, large social gathering spaces, large conference centers and similar facilities. The proposed precinct will not change significantly in size.
Open Space Preserve
This precinct has been added to protect and enhance current areas of open space and allow for future areas on campus to remain as open space.
Retirement
If the need for a retirement component arises, the facility should be located on the 33 acres east of Campus Drive. Locating the retirement component east of campus will allow the College to separate this use from College affairs.
