Campus 2005
Campus precincts are zones that have similar uses. These precincts are analyzed to see if adjacent campus uses are compatible. In 1999, six main types of precincts were identified on the Elizabethtown College campus:
Academic: all classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and meeting areas where academic teaching, research, and lecturing takes place.
-
Centrally located on campus, with the northern border of the precinct along College Avenue with Nicarry Hall, Wenger Center, Musser Hall, and Esbenshade Hall, south to High Library.
Administrative: offices and meeting centers that are involved in the administrative duties of the institution, including presidential offices, admission services, registration centers, financial centers, and other similar areas.
-
Located in several areas on campus, Alpha Hall, Zug Memorial Hall, and Leffler House (Office of Admissions).
Support: building services, physical plant, Campus Security, Health Center, and all services that aid in the physical maintenance of the campus and its residence population.
-
Located in two areas of campus, north of the College at the Brown Building, and at the west perimeter of the campus, which includes the Health Center and Campus Security.
Athletic/Recreational: all interior and exterior varsity and intramural playing fields, stadiums, gymnasiums, natatoriums, and recreation centers.
-
Extending from the pool in the Baugher Student Center and Thompson Gymnasium east toward the Schreiber Quadrangle, including the baseball, softball, and soccer fields. The precinct extends south of Schreiber Quads to include practice fields and south of Founders Hall where the tennis courts are located.
Residential: all housing for undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students on campus. This includes housing for any special groups or clubs.
-
Scattered throughout campus. There are numerous single family style houses located along Mount Joy Street and College Avenue at the western edge of campus, adjacent to Royer and Schlosser residence halls. A central precinct is located along Alpha Drive, including Myer Hall, Ober Hall, Brinser Hall, and Founders Hall. The Schreiber Quadrangle constitutes the eastern edge of the residential precinct.
Social/Cultural: student unions, amphitheaters, playhouses, large social gathering spaces, large conference centers, and similar facilities.
-
Located centrally on campus with the Leffler Chapel and Performance Center, Young Center/Bucher Meetinghouse, and Baugher Student Center.
