Reapplication Instructions for Traditional Day Students:

Over 90% of Elizabethtown College students receive some type of scholarship, grant, or loan assistance. For this reason, it is essential that students complete their required financial aid forms on time! Our office will mail financial aid renewal application instructions to your home address in early February. The financial aid application deadline for returning students is April 1st, 2008!

Below are the specific forms we require from returning students as well as some helpful information concerning each form:

Renewal FAFSA for 2008-09 (Submit by April 1st)

You should receive your Renewal FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Reminder from the Federal government at your home address or via email. The Renewal FAFSA Reminder is simply a refresher on how to complete a Renewal FAFSA on-line. If you do not receive a Renewal FAFSA Reminder, you can still log on to FAFSA on the Web and complete a Renewal FAFSA.

Upon completion of your parents' and your 2007 federal income tax forms, please submit your Renewal FAFSA to the federal government. All financial aid applicants must complete this application. Elizabethtown College's school code is 003262.

Elizabethtown College Need-Based Financial Aid Application (Submit by April 1st)

Elizabethtown College Need-Based Financial Aid Application for the 2008-09 year is available on-line! Comprehensive instructions regarding this on-line application will be mailed to parents in early February. A follow-up email will be sent to the students approximately two weeks later. Beginning February 15th, go to our secure Internet connection to complete the on-line application and to access your other personal financial aid information. Please contact our office if you have any questions regarding our on-line application.

Federal Tax Information (Mail ONLY IF notified that your FAFSA has been selected for verification by the College or Federal government). Returning students will only have to submit federal tax forms if they have been selected for verification. Approximately 30% of aid applicants are selected for verification each year. After you complete the FAFSA, our office will notify you if you have been selected for verification and must submit federal tax forms.

If selected for verification, parents' and student's signed & dated 2007 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ (attach all supporting schedules) must be submitted to our office.

NOTE: If Federal tax returns have been misplaced, call 1-800-829-1040 to request a "tax transcript" (an electronic printout of your tax return). Allow two weeks for receipt.

Other important financial aid application issues:

Award Notification (Begins Late-May)

We will be notifying returning students of their 2008-2009 need-based financial in June and July. Federal and state aid regulations require that schools wait until the Spring grades are completed so we may monitor a student's continued academic eligibility for aid. After we receive the Spring 2008 grade results and the student's complete financial aid materials, we will begin mailing award letters. We notify on-time students alphabetically (A - Z). Historically, we have notified all on-time students before the Fall semester bills are sent. Fall bills are sent early-July and are due early-August.

Academic Progress Standards

You must maintain certain qualitative (GPA) and quantitative academic standards to remain academically eligible for financial aid. For example, a full-time student must complete an average of 24 credit hours per year in order to continue to be eligible to receive federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Course incompletes, withdrawals, failures, and repeats of prior D or C- grades are NOT counted towards academic progress.

Please review these standards on page six and seven of your 2008-2009 Financial Aid Handbook. If you misplaced your Financial Aid Handbook, please contact our office to discuss how the academic progress policy applies to your particular situation. Additionally, merit-based scholarships require a different set of qualitative academic standards which were provided to you when you were awarded your scholarship.
