How do I join the Occupational Therapy Program @ E-town? 

 



Admissions Procedures 

  1.   Apply to the College.  Recommended date of completion for college applications is December 15th.  www.etown.edu/admissions
  2.   Schedule an interview with Admissions by calling the Office of Admissions at 717.361.1400.
  3.   At Elizabethtown College, knowing students is important to faculty.  The purpose of the interview is for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us.  Come prepared with an understanding of occupational therapy and a few stories from your shadowing experiences.  
  4.   Learn about your enrollment status from Admissions.  You will be notified regarding your admittance status to the college and to the OT program.  If you have not had an interview with Admissions, you must schedule one in order to be considered as a candidate for OT. 
  5.   Secure your space in the OT program by notifying the Office of Admissions by written response and by submitting the required $200 matriculation fee by May 1st. 


Who is accepted into the OT program? 

 


 

Admissions looks at both your academic and your interview profile.  Candidates are selected by whom we believe can successfully navigate the required course of study and become vibrant and quality occupational therapists. 

Your academic profile includes: 

  1. Rank in high school
  2. High school science grades
  3. SAT scores

Your Interview profile includes your

  1. involvement and leadership in activities
  2. college readiness
  3. knowledge of and exposure to occupational therapy
  4. motivation and commitment
  5. interpersonal communication.


How do I graduate from the Occupational Therapy Program? 

 



To be eligible for the combined Master of Science/Bachelor of Science Degree the student must successfully complete all college and department requirements. These include: 

  1.   Achieve a grade point averate of 2.0 or better in general education core requirements.
  2.   Complete all the required courses in the OT curriculum.
  3.   Achieve a minimum 2.5 grade point average in all OT and related courses by your Sophomore year, spring semester in order to enter junior level OT courses.
  4.   Acheive a minimum 2.7 major grade point average to enter master's level OT courses and each Level II fieldwork. 
  5.   Maintain a 3.0 minimum OT GPA in the graduate year.
  6.   Pass 6 months of Level II Fieldwork experiences.


Once I have successfully completed the program, how do I become an OT? 

 


Once you have completed your education, you will take the national certification exam that is offered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.  Further information can be located at http://www.nbcot.org/.  In order to take the exam you must complete both the BS and the MS degree AND pass both Level II Fieldworks.
