American University Experiences

The Political Science Department at Elizabethtown College requires an experiential learning component in the coursework of all Political Science majors, participation for a semester in an off-campus program for academic credit sometime during their college career. One of the popular options has been the American University’s Washington Semester Program, which provides both international study travel and programs based solely in Washington, D.C. The Washington Semester’s internship portion offers valuable experience working with policy makers and business professionals who play a vital role in American government and culture. Students also meet leaders and activists during field trips and classes in Washington, D.C. and overseas. More about the Washington Semester Program and its many choices to suit your personal interests is available on its website Washington Semester
