Welcome to Elizabethtown College, the institution that I have called home since 1996. At Elizabethtown, we believe that learning is most noble when used to benefit others; thus, our motto – “Educate for Service.”

I believe in higher education’s historic promise of underwriting lives of large purpose while still satisfying the contemporary career aspirations of
new generations of students. Our opportunity to do so lies in accentuating our signature attributes, which provide a framework for blending the
historic purposes of higher education with its contemporary realities.
Educating students in a relationship-centered learning community
Fostering an international and cross-cultural perspective
Complementing classroom instruction with experiential learning opportunities
Preparing students for purposeful lives and meaningful work.
Our work is transformative, opening students’ lives to their greatest possibilities for service and leadership as citizens of the world.
At Elizabethtown, we believe that all students should systematically engage life’s big questions, not only abstractly but also concretely in case studies and experiential education. By engaging the deepest issues of meaning, purpose, value and ethics, students come to see their lives as a subject for reflection and develop the tools to shape large purpose for themselves. Anchored in the humanities, big questions must also find their way into the sciences and professional studies as well.
I think you will find our college offers unique academic and personal growth opportunities within an environment of close community. Thank you for your interest in Elizabethtown. Please plan a visit to our beautiful campus soon. We’d love to see you.
