Coren earned a bachelor’s in biology with a concentration in genetics from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in genetics from Cornell University. He then pursued postdoctoral research at Thomas Jefferson University and at DuPont Merck Pharmaceuticals.
Coren joined the faculty at Elizabethtown in 1999 after teaching genetics and molecular biology for three years at Oklahoma’s Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He has an active research program with several undergraduates that intersects with the Human Genome Project. Coren’s interests lie in creating create human genomic libraries and technologies that can be used to identify new disease genes as well as to investigate gene regulation He has published several articles and given seminars at various universities.
