Tamara Gillis, associate professor and chair of communications

Gillis teaches journalism, public relations, international communication and research at Elizabethtown College. Her research interests include media literacy, civic journalism, change management, effective organizational structures, public art as communications and the impact of new media. She also serves as a communications consultant with Cooper Wright, specializing in change management.

Gillis previously led communication programs for University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Memorial Healthcare Corporation and Memorial Hospital (York, Pa.), Penn State University Capital College, and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. She is a regular contributor to Communication World magazine and a book author and editor for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Gillis was the first educator to serve as the chairman of the IABC Research Foundation and was recently honored by the Foundation for her work in communication measurement and research.

Gillis earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Shippensburg University and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
