Local Elizabethtown College student named Finnegan Fellow
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Daniel Mallinson of Lancaster, a junior political science major at Elizabethtown College, was one of six winners of a statewide essay contest sponsored by the James A. Finnegan Fellowship Foundation.
As a Finnegan Fellow, Mallinson will serve a full-time, paid internship in Pennsylvania state government this summer, along with receiving a scholarship and participating in a weekly program involving members of the Governor’s cabinet. He was honored on March 30 at a luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion attended by prominent Pennsylvania officials, including new Speaker of the House Dennis M. O’Brien. Also recognized was faculty mentor Fletcher McClellan, political science.
Mallinson is the third Elizabethtown student to win a Finnegan Fellowship in the last two years, and 13th in the last 25 years. Founded in 1960, the Finnegan Fellowship program is open to all Pennsylvania undergraduate students and/or undergraduate students attending Pennsylvania colleges and universities.
