Brethren in Christ membership to be discussed at Elizabethtown College’s Young Center
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – A Messiah College sociology
professor will present an overview of the Brethren in Christ membership at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 22, in Elizabethtown College’s Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies. Ron Burwell’s talk is open to the public free of charge.
Burwell will present information on the beliefs, values and behavior of members of the Brethren in Christ based on a national sample of members who participated in the 2006 Church Member Profile. During his talk, he will also pinpoint recent demographic changes in the denomination.
Burwell chairs the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Criminal Justice at Messiah College. A graduate of New York University, his research interests include denominational studies, exploration of faith development among college students and assessment of learning outcomes in higher education.
