Recruitment, retention of non-family members in family businesses to be topic of E-town College seminar
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown College’s Family Business Center will host a seminar on retention and
recruitment of key employees by Don Jonovic, a nationally known family business advisor. His presentation, “Non-Family Managers: Attracting and Retaining the Great Ones,” will begin at 8:30 a.m., March 16, in Leffler Chapel and Performance Center. The event is open and free to family businesses interested in learning more about The Family Business Center. The registration deadline is March 6. For more information, please call Rosa Burmeister at The Family Business Center at 717-361-1275.
Jonovic currently serves on 12 family business boards, two of which he chairs. He has served on a number of compensation committees of corporate boards in the resort, energy, wine, poultry, and transportation industries, among many others. In this program, his fourth for the Family Business Center, Jonovic will distill what he’s learned through these experiences — the pitfalls, the myths, the truths, the successful programs as well as the failures — and present suggested strategies for defining recruitment and retention strategies that can work for any company.
Jonovic has written eight books on business ownership and the management of change in the closely held company, including “The Ultimate Legacy: How Owners of Family and Closely Held Businesses Can Achieve Their Real Purpose.” He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Marquette University and a doctorate in communication from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
