Elizabethtown College’s Young Center to present Church of the Brethren profile
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – A sociology professor at Bridgewater College will present a profile of the Church of the Brethren at 7:30 p.m., March 15, at Elizabethtown College’s Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies. The talk by Carl Desportes Bowman is open to the public free of charge and is the second of three Young Center talks discussing the data gathered for CMP2006, the national study of members in the Church of the Brethren, Mennonite Church USA and the Brethren in Christ.
Bowman is chair of the sociology department at Bridgewater. He has served as director of survey research at the University of Virginia’s Post Modernity Project and is the author of “Brethren Society: The Cultural Transformation of a ‘Peculiar People.’
