E-town College names director of church relations
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Allen T. Hansell Sr. of Mountville has been named director
of church relations at Elizabethtown College. As such, he will serve as the primary liaison between Elizabethtown and the Church of the Brethren, including alumni, congregations, districts and the national office.
Hansell has served in a number of positions for the Church of the Brethren, including director of ministry for the General Board and codirector of ministry summer service. He also served the Atlantic Northeast District as district executive and moderator, as chair of the Small Church Task Team and as a member of the District Conference Program and Arrangements Committee and Standing Committee of the Annual Conference. He retired as director of ministry in 2001.
Hansell has served his local community as interim pastor of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren and as codesigner of the latchkey program for elementary public school children in Mountville. A former resident of Wilmington, Del., he served as pastor of the Wilmington Church of the Brethren, as a member of the New Castle County Advisory Committee to the Department of Community Development and Housing, as president and program director of the Richardson Park Community Action Program and as chair of the Conrad School District’s Advisory Committee to the Youth Center. Hansell is currently interim pastor for the Wilmington congregation.
Hansell earned a bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater College and master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Bethany Theological Seminary.
