Elizabethtown College Center for Family Business to present seminar on keeping entrepreneurial spark alive
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown College’s S. Dale High Center for Family Business will host a May 22 seminar on keeping the entrepreneurial spark alive in a family business.
“Keeping the Entrepreneurial Spark Alive: The Role of Each Generation ” will be presented by Ann M. Dugan, founder, executive director and assistant dean of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence, part of the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. The event, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., is open and free to family businesses interested in learning more about the Center for Family Business. The registration deadline is May 12. For more information, call the Center at 717-361-1275.
In the 1900s, family businesses were started with an entrepreneurial spark that became a lasting flame for, in many cases, 50 years or more. Today’s family leaders are experiencing different and more intense dynamics that require constant development of new strategies and introduction of innovations to remain competitive. This environment requires an entrepreneurial way of thinking in each generation that, unless understood and encouraged, can lead to generational conflicts and misalignment of family goals and ultimately the family vision.
This program by Dugan will provide a platform for success that keeps the spark alive through a robust entrepreneurial culture that continues to harness the family’s and the business’ inherent strategic advantages into opportunities for today and tomorrow.
Dugan is an accomplished author, lecturer and family business consultant with more than 20 years of experience in researching, developing and writing in the areas of family business, strategic planning and the dynamics of the entrepreneurial firm.
