Welcome to PiE Hall!
Welcome to the exciting world of Engineering and Physics. You are about to enter one of the most challenging academic programs of your life. The result is a career in an ever changing world that will need your skills to improve the lives of many people by bringing new energy technology to reality, developing energy efficient and sustainable products and designing medical equipment that allows people to live longer. These are just a few of the careers our graduates have chosen.
The coursework for this major is a big change from what you are used to from high school. Past students have benefited from study groups and support from other engineering friends and faculty during their time at Etown. To improve on this past success, we are offering a new Living and Learning Community at Etown.
To live on the PiE Floor you must do the following:
• Be enrolled in the appropriate Physics and Engineering first-year courses.
• Inform residence life and the departmental program of your interest to live in the community.
PiE Hall Programs and Opportunities
• An international night where foods of the world will be served while we discuss global concerns and the role engineers have in solving these issues.
• A “Mystery Artifact” night will make detectives of all of the freshman engineers. Monk will have to look for a new job when you all are through.
• A trip to Whitaker Center in Harrisburg which explores the world of science and engineering and an IMAX film presentation to cap the experience.
• A visit to the internationally famous Clock Museum in Columbia, PA. This unique museum chronicles man’s attempt to measure time over the ages and explains how this has been improved dramatically by engineers, especially in the last 100 years.
• There will be weekly tutoring sessions in the dorm to make it easy for the PiE members to access the assistance they need to complete homework and understand P&E concepts.
