Information For

Many Elizabethtown College students plan to go on to medical school. There is not a pre-med major at Elizabethtown College. Instead, there is a list of specific courses pre-med students take to prepare them for medical school. Beyond this list of courses, a pre-med student can major in any subject they desire.

Medical school is not for everyone. It is important for interested students to know what they are getting into before they get too deeply entrenched. Many questions can be answered at HealthProfessions.org.

Advising for Pre-Med Students

Pre-med students are encouraged to meet with a member of the College's Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC). This faculty committee offers help and advisement to students who wish to pursue continued study in many of the health professions. Committee members assist students in selecting elective courses, arranging medically-related service activities, choosing medical schools to which to apply and putting together applications.

Pre-medical students are also encouraged to join the college's medical-interest club, Medicus.

Choose your Medicine

Students can pursue one of two approaches to medicine: allopathic and osteopathic medicine. Allopathic medicine involves the traditional type of specialized medical training. Osteopathic medicine emphasizes a more holistic approach. Learn more about these areas:
