Why Study OT at E-town?

A Distinctive, Distinguished Program

Admission to the Occupational Therapy program at Elizabethtown College is selective. Two factors distinguish our program from others: the emphasis placed on liberal arts education and the five-year, entry-level nature of the Master's degree program.

Master's Degree: Five Years, One School

Start at Elizabethtown and finish at Elizabethtown. Our distinctive program gives you the opportunity to initiate study immediately, progress in the program without reapplying and the chance to begin practice with a Master's Degree in five years.

Faculty with Real-World Experience

Learn from professionals who have been there, done that. Each full-time faculty member in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Elizabethtown College is a specialist in a major practice area: psychosocial, physical dysfunction, pediatrics, rehabilitation and gerontics. Our faculty members have expertise in research, theory, clinical reasoning and media. Our part-time and adjunct faculty members offer a wealth of clinical and practical experience, too.

Learning to Serve

Our department is a shining example of the College's mission to "Educate for Service." As a student of occupational therapy, you are preparing for a career of serving others, all while being part of an intimate and caring learning environment. While at Elizabethtown, you will find many other opportunities for serving outside of the classroom through our Center of Community and Civic Engagement.

Fieldwork with Experiential Learning

In your junior year and beyond, you will average one day a week in an experiential learning setting such as a hospital, clinic or school. You'll take part in a clerkship in a variety of settings observing clients with sensory, cognitive, psychological and physical difficulties. And, you will complete at least six months of field work experience at several of our more than one hundred affiliated hospitals and clinics in the United States.

Career Success

With more than 30 years of graduate success, Elizabethtown College's Occupational Therapy program is one of the most established in the nation. It is typical for all of our graduates to pass the national certification exam and gain employment shortly after graduation.
