Anne Keuhnelian Schwarz - 2007 Stambaugh Award recipient

Anne Keuhnelian Schwarz, '64, is the recipient of the O. F. Stambaugh Award for outstanding alumni in 2007.  Anne received her BS in chemistry, magna cum laude, from Elizabethtown College in 1964.  That same year, she was nominated for and awarded the Chemical and Engineering News National Merit Scholar Award, one of only 12 in the nation who received this award.  Anne has since dedicated her life to teaching, primarily to nursing students.  As she puts it, she entered a "world of teaching chemistry to those who don't want to be there, don't see any use for it, and are sure they cannot possibly learn it."  She has, nonetheless, been able to teach those students and has made a difference in numerous students' lives.  She truly exemplifies the tradition of "educate for service".

Dr. James MacKay joins the department as our organic chemist.  He received his bachelor's degree from Miami University, went on to earn his PhD from the University of Michigan, and worked as an American Cancer Society fellow at the University of Chicago before coming to Elizabethtown.  We are excited to have him with us.
