Back to top 12/8/2007 Etown falls in dual-meet action at Susquehanna ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Elizabethtown College Downed by Susquehanna SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College's men's and womens's swimming teams were defeated at Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon by scores of 115-68 (men) and 112-93 (women). For the women, junior Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/ Conrad Weiser) and sophomore Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) each won an event, Brizek was victorious in the 200IM (2:22.68) and Riley won the 100 free (57.99). Blue Jay women were also first in the 200 medlay relay, Riley, junior Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown), Brizek, and first year student Courtney Kelly (Guilford, CT/Guilford) (2:00.92). For the men, junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) was the lone winner as he captured the 500 freestyle in 5:05.26. The Blue Jay swimming teams will be on winter break, and their next event is at Albright College on January 12, 2008. Men’s Team Score: Susquehanna 115, Elizabethtown 68 Women's Team Score: Susquehanna 112, Elizabethtown 93 Back to top 12/2/2007 Elizabethtown competes at two-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Elizabethtown Competes at Franklin & Marshall Invitational LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's and women's swimming teams competed at the two-day Franklin & Marshall College Invitational, with the men placing ninth with 111 points and the women taking eighth with 131 points. For the Blue Jay men, junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) was third in the 100 backstroke (55.02 seconds), eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:04.14) and 15th in the 500 freestyle (5:05.48) while sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) was 15th in the 200 backstroke (2:10.10). For the Etown women, sophomore Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) took fifth in the 50 freestyle (26.04 seconds), 13th in the 100 backstroke (1:06.26) and 15th in the 100 freestyle (57.13 seconds). Junior Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.40) and was ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.12), junior Laura Quigley (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) was 11th in the 400 individual medley (5:31.41) and junior Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) was 16th in the 1650 freestyle (19:32.83). Rowan University won the men's team title with 680 points, ahead of host Franklin & Marshall (662 points) and Kutztown University (520.5 points). Kutztown captured the women's championship with 686.5 points, followed by Rowan (548 points) and Franklin & Marshall (412 points). Back to top 11/28/2007 Blue Jays even record at 4-4 with dual-meet sweep of FDU-Florham ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Elizabethtown College Sweeps FDU-Florham ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College swimming swept FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening at Alumni Pool, with the men's team winning 96-62, and the women's score of 101-56. The Blue Jay women (4-4 overall) posted wins in the first eight events, first year student Stephanie Hellman (Shrewsbury NJ/Red Bank Catholic) posted wins in two events, the 50 free (27.59) and 100 free (1:00.05). Junior Laura Quigley (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) posted a win in the 1000 free (12:17.98) while sophomore Kara Geiger (Zionsville PA/Emmaus) won the 200 free (2:09.56). Sophomore Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) won the 100 back (1:06.59) and first year student Rebecca Rose (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) won the 100 fly (1:11.98). Elizabethtown men (4-4 overall) posted seven wins against FDU-Florham, as senior Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) posted victories in the 50 free (24.47) and the 100 fly (58.92). For the men (3-4 overall), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) was victorious in both the 100 back (56.12), and the 200 free (1:55.40). Sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) also posted two wins, touching first in the 50 free (23.40), and 100 free (51.55). For the men (2-4 overall), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) posted two victories in the distance events, 1000 free (10:49.39) and 500 free (5:11.70). Sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) added a victory for the Blue Jays in the 100 free (50.78). For the men (2-3 overall, 2-1 MAC), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 200 individual medley (2:05.79) and 100 free (52.75 seconds), sophomore Dan Provence (Brookhaven, PA/Penncrest) captured the 1000 free (11:43.97) and 500 free (5:35.44), and senior Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) won the 50 free (24.22 seconds) and 100 fly (59.59 seconds). For the men (1-3 overall, 1-1 MAC), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 200 free (1:52.82) and 500 free (5:09.11), sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) captured the 100 free (50.57 seconds) and senior Dan McGuigan (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) won the 200 breast (2:35.84). For the Blue Jay men (1-1 overall), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 1000 freestyle in 10:57.22 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.70. The Blue Jay men posted a 124-60 victory while the women were victorious by a score of 147-57. For the men, sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) and junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) each picked up a pair of victories, with Drob winning the 50 free (23.20 seconds) and the 100 free (52.35 seconds) and Miller taking the 200 free (1:54.16) and 500 free (5:14.76). Sophomore Dan Provence (Brookhaven, PA/Penncrest) won the 1000 free (12:04.79), senior Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) took the 100 fly (1:00.95), and junior Tim Donahue (Hatfield, PA/Lansdale Catholic) picked up the victory in the 100 breast (1:07.06). The Blue Jays (1-0 overall, 1-0 MAC) also posted a win in the 200 free relay, as the team of sophomore Kevin Smedman (Fort Montgomery, NY/James I.
