Back to top 9/6/2007 Masters Center Parking Lot Construction A part of the SMEC project is a 20 space parking lot along the east side of Esbenshade. As this lot will provide accessible parking on the north side of the SMEC complex the construction includes revisions of the walkways on the north side of Esbenshade including portions of the east/west walk along College Avenue. The orange fence north of Esbenshade has been installed to separate the construction from the walkways on the north side of Esbenshade. Later in the project the path from the accessible entrance at the northeast to the lot will be reconstructed. Construction on this lot has begun and will be completed this fall. The reason this lot was not completed this summer is that the area where the lot is being constructed was the lay down area for the SMEC Phase II construction. Now that the Phase II roof and structural work is almost complete the lay down area is no longer needed and we can construct the parking lot. We have adjusted the parking lot to save the large maple tree along the west side of the lot. Until the lot is competed accessible parking serving the north side of Esbenshade/Masters Center will be in the parking lot behind Musser & Esbenshade that was just repaved this summer. There are 3 handicapped parking spaces in this lot and there is an accessible route out of the north end of the lot, east on the walkway parallel to College Avenue, returning south towards Esbenshade, and finally east to the accessible door. The drawing below show the temporary accessible access. Thanks for your patience while we continue the SMEC project. ![]() Back to top 8/28/2007 New Pictures of the Master Center New pictures of the recently completed Lyet Wing for Biological Science can be seen at this link. Back to top 8/17/2007 Masters Center Construction Update As planned last year, the project team of High Construction, MCA, and Facilities Management staff opened the Lyet wing, moved Biology from Esbenshade, demolished the Biology areas in Esbenshade and completed portions of SMEC Phase II over the summer. This link will take you to the Facilities Management a memo which reviews the status of the Phase II work, the construction plans for fall semester and planning for the next phase of the SMEC project. Some of the Esbenshade hallways are open and the “you are here” drawings showing the occupied areas are posted in Musser, the Lyet wing, and Esbenshade. You may view the drawings via this link. As construction continues on portions of Phase II, you will encounter workers in the hallways and in other portions of the building. The High Construction Superintendent has been provided with class schedules so he can coordinate his work with class schedules. The majority of the noisy construction work was completed this summer, but there may be limited noise during the semester.
During the fall semester portions of the hallways will be completed and finishes will be installed. Some hallways will not be completed until Phase III, tentatively scheduled for summer 2008. Thank you for your patience as we complete the next phase of the SMEC project.
