Blue Jays even record at 4-4 with dual-meet sweep of FDU-Florham

Elizabethtown College Sweeps FDU-Florham

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College swimming swept FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening at Alumni Pool, with the men's team winning 96-62, and the women's score of 101-56.

The Blue Jay women (4-4 overall) posted wins in the first eight events, first year student Stephanie Hellman (Shrewsbury NJ/Red Bank Catholic) posted wins in two events, the 50 free (27.59) and 100 free (1:00.05).  Junior Laura Quigley (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) posted a win in the 1000 free (12:17.98) while sophomore Kara Geiger (Zionsville PA/Emmaus) won the 200 free (2:09.56).

Sophomore Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) won the 100 back (1:06.59) and first year student Rebecca Rose (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) won the 100 fly (1:11.98).  First year student Courtney Kelly (Guilford, CT/Guilford) won the 200 IM (2:29.62).

Etown women also won the 200 medlay relay (2:02.81), with the team of Riley, junior Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/ Woodstown), junior Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/ Conrad Weiser) and Kara Geiger.

Elizabethtown men (4-4 overall) posted seven wins against FDU-Florham,  as senior Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) posted victories in the 50 free (24.47) and the 100 fly (58.92).  Junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) continued his win streak with a win in the 200 free (1:56.89), sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) won the 100 free (55.94) and senior  Ryan Schutz (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) touched first in the 100 back (1:02.78).

The Blue Jays also won the relay events, taking the 200 medlay relay (1:58.71) behind sophomore Kevin Smedman (Montgomery, NY/James I. O'Neil), senior Dan McGuigan (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville), Schutz and first year student Kyle Ashe (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) along with the 200 free relay of Miller, Ashe, DiObilda and Drob).

Etown sweeps Lebanon Valley (103-100 men, 102-89 women)

Blue Jay Swimming Teams Post Sweep of Lebanon Valley College

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College swimming swept visiting Lebanon Valley College on Tuesday evening at Alumni Pool, winning 103-100 in men's action and 102-89 for the women.

For the men (3-4 overall), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) was victorious in both the 100 back (56.12), and the 200 free (1:55.40).  Sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) also posted two wins, touching first in the 50 free (23.40), and 100 free (51.55).  Senior Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) posted a victory in the 100 fly (59.68).

Blue Jays fall to Washington (Md.) in non-conference meet

Washington College Sweeps Elizabethtown in Non-Conference Meet

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Washington College defeated Elizabethtown swimming in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Pool, winning 128-69 in men's competition and 151.5-53.5 in women's action.

For the men (2-4 overall), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) posted two victories in the distance events, 1000 free (10:49.39) and 500 free (5:11.70).

Sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) added a victory for the Blue Jays in the 100 free (50.78).

The Blue Jay women (2-4 overall) were led by sophomore Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) who posted a win in the 50 free (26.17).

Elizabethtown Posts Sweep of King's in MAC Action, 103-54 (men) and 99-83 (women)

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's and women's swimming teams posted a sweep of their Middle Atlantic Conference meet at King's College, with the men winning 99-83 and the women capturing a 103-54 victory.

For the men (2-3 overall, 2-1 MAC), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 200 individual medley (2:05.79) and 100 free (52.75 seconds), sophomore Dan Provence (Brookhaven, PA/Penncrest) captured the 1000 free (11:43.97) and 500 free (5:35.44), and senior Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) won the 50 free (24.22 seconds) and 100 fly (59.59 seconds).

Sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) added a victory in the 200 free (1:57.71) and senior Ryan Schutz (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) won the 100 back (1:03.90) as the Blue Jays won eight of 11 events over the Monarchs (0-3 overall, 0-2 MAC).

In women's action, the Blue Jays (2-3 overall, 2-1 MAC) won the first eight events over the Lady Monarchs (1-3 overall, 1-2 MAC) before competing in exhibition mode for the final three events

Junior Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) won the 200 free (2:09.86) and 100 fly (1:08.31) and sophomore Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) posted victories in the 50 free (26.04 seconds) and 100 back (1:05.62).

Additional wins came from senior Lindsay Kollmeier (Sewell, NJ/Ursuline Academy) in the 1000 free (12:23.80), first-year student Courtney Kelly (Guilford, CT/Guilford) in the 200 individual medley (2:29.24) and first-year student Stephanie Hellman (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) in the 100 free (1:00.38).

In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of sophomore Danielle Hopkins (Franklin, MA/Franklin), first-year student Molly Goldrick (Hampden, MA/Wilbraham & Monson), first-year student Rebecca Rose (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) and Hellman won in a time of 2:06.77.

Lycoming earns two victories over Etown in MAC meet

Elizabethtown Falls at Lycoming in MAC Swimming Action, 116-75 (men) and 118-80 (women)

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Lycoming College posted a pair of swimming victories over Elizabethtown College in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, with the Warriors winning 116-75 in the men's meet and 118-80 in women's competition.

For the men (1-3 overall, 1-1 MAC), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 200 free (1:52.82) and 500 free (5:09.11), sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) captured the 100 free (50.57 seconds) and senior Dan McGuigan (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) won the 200 breast (2:35.84).

The Blue Jays also took the 200 free relay as the team of sophomore Kevin Smedman (Fort Montgomery, NY/James I. O'Neill), first-year student Kyle Ashe (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley), sophomore Dan Provence (Brookhaven, PA/Penncrest) and senior Ryan Schutz (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) won in 1:41.67.

Dickinson sinks Etown in men's and women's action

Elizabethtown Falls in Non-Conference Meet at Dickinson, 147-56 (men) and 159-45 (women)

CARLISLE, Pa. --- In their second meet in less than 24 hours, the Elizabethtown College swimming teams took on Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon, with the host Red Devils winning 147-56 in the men's meet and 159-45 in the women's meet.

For the Blue Jay men (1-1 overall), junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 1000 freestyle in 10:57.22 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.70.

For the women (1-1 overall), first-year student Stephanie Hellman (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) was the top individual finisher as she took second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.03 seconds.

Blue Jays sweep Arcadia in season opener, 124-60 (men) and 147-57 (women)

Elizabethtown Opens 2007-08 Season With Sweep of Arcadia, 124-60 (men) and 147-57 (women)

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's and women's swimming teams kicked off their 2007-08 schedule with victories over Middle Atlantic Conference newcomer Arcadia University. The Blue Jay men posted a 124-60 victory while the women were victorious by a score of 147-57.

For the men, sophomore Matt Drob (Strasburg, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) and junior Chris Miller (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) each picked up a pair of victories, with Drob winning the 50 free (23.20 seconds) and the 100 free (52.35 seconds) and Miller taking the 200 free (1:54.16) and 500 free (5:14.76).

Sophomore Dan Provence (Brookhaven, PA/Penncrest) won the 1000 free (12:04.79), senior Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep) took the 100 fly (1:00.95), and junior Tim Donahue (Hatfield, PA/Lansdale Catholic) picked up the victory in the 100 breast (1:07.06).

The Blue Jays (1-0 overall, 1-0 MAC) also posted a win in the 200 free relay, as the team of sophomore Kevin Smedman (Fort Montgomery, NY/James I. O'Neill), Miller, DiObilda and Drob won with a time of 1:38.44.

For the women, junior Laura Quigley (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) along with sophomores Kara Geiger (Zionsville, PA/Emmaus) and Lindsay Riley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) each picked up a pair of wins for the Blue Jays (1-0 overall, 1-0 MAC).

Quigley captured the 500 free (6:09.93) and 1000 free (12:25.27), Geiger won the 100 free (1:00.22) and 200 free (2:10.53) and Riley was victorious in the 50 free (26.61 seconds) and 100 back (1:05.70).

Junior Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) also earned a win for the Blue Jays, coming home first in the 200 individual medley (2:25.63), while first-year student Molly Goldrick (Hampden, MA/Wilbraham & Monson Academy) captured the 100 breast with a time of 1:19.57.

In relays, the Blue Jays picked up a win in the 200 free relay as first-year student Courtney Kelly (Guilford, CT/Guilford), sophomore Laura Krieger (Danville, PA/Danville), first-year student Stephanie Hellman (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and Riley won with a time of 1:51.02.
