Back to top 11/27/2007 Franklin & Marshall defeats Blue Jays 30-18 ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Franklin & Marshall Defeats Elizabethtown, 30-18 LANCASTER, Pa. --- Franklin & Marshall College used three pins to pick up a 30-18 victory over Elizabethtown College in non-conference wrestling action on Tuesday night. The Diplomats (1-0 overall) won six of the eight bouts contested against the Blue Jays (2-3 overall), but needed a pin in the 285-pound match to secure the victory. Earning wins for the Blue Jays were sophomore Eric Rhoads (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central), who boosted his record to 7-1 with a 4-3 decision over Jake Bucha at 133 pounds, and sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford School) at 149 pounds as he posted a 14-7 decision over Albert Gianforti to move to 7-0 on the year. Forfeit victories were claimed by first-year student Steve Resnick (Media, PA/Haverford School) at 141 pounds and sophomore Deron Sharp (Millville, NJ/Millville) at 197 pounds. The Golden Bears (3-0 overall) earned decisions in seven of the match's 10 bouts, and went ahead for good in the next-to-last contest of the evening against the Blue Jays (2-2 overall). Senior Pete Achilles (Geneva, NY/Geneva) improved to 8-2 at 125 pounds with his fourth pin of the season against Eddie Harris at 6:25, while sophomore Eric Rhoads (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) moved to 6-1 at 133 pounds with a pin of Rob Vollrath at 7:57. At 149 pounds, sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford School) pushed his record to 6-0 with a 14-4 major decision over Kutztown's Mike Bohl. At K Back to top 11/17/2007 Blue Jays split two matches at Messiah Duals ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Blue Jays Split Matches at Messiah Duals GRANTHAM, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team competed at the Messiah Duals on Saturday, coming home with a win over Waynesburg College and a loss to Wheaton College to move their record to 2-1 on the season. The Blue Jays lost the opening match against Wheaton College 25-17. Senior Pete Achilles (Geneva, NY/Geneva) opened the dual with a fall in 1:14 over Ben Allen, sophomore Eric Rhoads (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) picked up a forfeit to put the Blue Jays up 12-0. Wheaton 141-pounder Brent Skorup put the Thunder on the board with a fall, but sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark DE/Sanford School) cruised to a first period technical fall (15-0, 2:50) over Rob Jacobson. Wheaton was down 17-6 and reeled off six straight wins to pull away with the victory. The Blue Jays' opponent in the second match was Waynesburg College, and Etown posted a 56-0 win. Etown got pins from Bartholomew, Croswell, junior Jereme Heisey (Manheim PA/Manheim Central), and sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing). Winning by major decision for Etown were sophomore Paul Connor (Tabernacle, NJ/ Shawnee), and first-year student Josh Cook (Gardners, PA/Boiling Springs). Wheaton 25, Elizabethtown 17 Elizabethtown 56, Waynesburg 0 Back to top 11/14/2007 Elizabethtown gets win from Tim katzman to defeat Johns Hopkins 24-21 ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Elizabethtown Holds On For 24-21 Win over Johns Hopkins BALTIMORE, Md. --- Sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) earned a 6-2 decision at 285 pounds to break a 21-21 tie and give Elizabethtown College a 24-21 victory over Johns Hopkins University in non-conference wrestling action on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays (1-0 overall) led 21-0 with five bouts remaining before Johns Hopkins (0-1 overall) posted three straight pins and a decision to tie the match at 21-21 entering the final bout of the night, but Katzaman defeated Vincent Domestico to clinch the victory for Elizabethtown. Picking up pins for the Blue Jays were senior Pete Achilles (Geneva, NY/Geneva) at 125 pounds in 3:54 over Akshay Paintal and sophomore Terry Bartholomew (Point of Rocks, MD/Brunswick) at 141 pounds in 1:18 over Ben Kauffman. Earning decisions for Elizabethtown were first-year student Jarrod Cawley (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) at 133 pounds by a 10-7 score over Xavier Mohammed, sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford School) at 149 pounds by a 10-5 score over Jim Crummlish, and junior Jereme Heisey (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) at 157 pounds by a 10-4 score over Eric Levenseller.
