Back to top 12/8/2007 Etown wins nine of 10 matches in 47-6 win over Scranton ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Elizabethtown Defeats Scranton 47-6 MIDDLETOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College wrestling hosted visiting Scranton this afternoon at Middletown High School with the Blue Jays winning 9 of 10 matches in a 47-6 win against the Royals. The Blue Jays (3-4 overall) racked up six falls and a technical fall in the win over Scranton. Sophomore Matt Torresani (Horsham, PA/Hatboro Horsham) scored a technical fall 21-6, 7:00 to give the Blue Jays a 5-0 lead to start the match, while sophomore Eric Rhoads (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) wasted no time securing a fall in 1:46. The Blue Jays swept the final seven bouts, winning by fall for Etown, sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford School), first year student Josh Cook (Gardners, PA/Boiling Springs), first year student Bill Meaney (Toms River, NJ/Manchester Twp), sophomore Deron Sharp (Millville, NJ/Millville), and sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing). Sophomore Jereme Heisey (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) picked up his team leading twelth victory by decision 8-4 at 157lbs. Elizabethtown 47, Scranton 6 Back to top 12/6/2007 Blue Jays fall to 6th ranked Delaware Valley, 33-3 ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Elizabethtown Falls to Sixth-Ranked Delaware Valley ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College wrestling fell to sixth ranked Delaware Valley by a score of 33-3 on Thursday evening at home. Sophomore Jereme Heisey (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) earn the only victory for the Blue Jays, winning his 157lb match by decision 3-2 over eighth ranked Ryan Herwig. Heisey started the 3rd period up 1-0, but Herwig escaped to tie the bout with 1:45 remaining, Heisey scored a takedown with less than 30 seconds left to go up 3-1, and a late escape by Herwig ended the match 3-2. Sophomore Bud Croswell (Newark, DE/Sanford School) lost a tough match 7-3 to fourth ranked Jesse Harrington at 149lbs. Croswell scored a takedown early in the first period and built up over five minutes of riding time, but a late stall call and a reversal gave Harrington the lead with less than fifteen seconds left in the match. Elizabethtown hosts Scranton on Saturday at Middletown High School. Delaware Valley 33, Elizabethtown 3 Back to top 12/1/2007 Etown finishes 8th at Spartan Invitational: Terry Bartholomew finishes 2nd ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WRESTLING Elizabethtown Takes Fifth at Spartan Invitational YORK, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team finished eighth out of 11 schools at the Spartan Invitational at York College on Saturday, scoring 43.5 points. Sophomore Terry Bartholomew (Point of Rocks, MD/Brunswick) was the top individual finisher for the Blue Jays, as he took second at 141 pounds. Sophomore Deron Sharp (Millville, NJ/Millville) was fourth at 197 pounds and sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) finished fourth at 285 pounds. Bartholomew opened competition with a 7-0 win over Justin Krop of Liberty University, then defeated Josh Flint of Apprentice School 17-6 in quarterfinal action. Bartholomew moved to the finals by pinning Jon Stillo of Centenary College in 1:18, but fell to Colon Lewis of Liberty by an 11-2 score. Sharp posted a 10-5 win over Kendall Ridenour of Apprentice School in his opening match, before being pinned by eventual weight class winner Joe West of Delaware Valley College. Sharp was defeated in the third-place match by Shawn Vanwingerden of College of New Jersey 6-1. Katzaman picked up an 8-5 win over Drew Mackay of Delaware Valley in his initial bout, then pinned Shane Cooley of York in 3:20 to advance to the semifinals, where eighth-ranked Kyle Bilquist of Delaware Valley won 4-0. In his third-place bout, Katzaman dropped a 4-2 decision to 10th-ranked Steve Carbone of College of New Jersey. Delaware Valley won the team championship after winning five of the 10 weight classes. York College's Kyle Flickinger was named Outstanding Wrestler.
