Herr Field on Saturday night. Severini, who leads the Blue Jays with nine goals this season, scored both of his goals in a span of four minutes as the Blue Jays (8-2-0 overall) picked up their seventh home victory without a loss this season and extended their overall home winning streak to 10 matches dating to last season. Severini, who scored twice in the Blue Jays' 5-0 win over Albright College on Friday night, gave Elizabethtown a 1-0 lead with 27:54 remaining as he flicked home a served ball by junior Bryan Holt (Hershey, PA/Lower Dauphin). Just four minutes later, Severini gave the Blue Jays a 2-0 advantage as he fired home a rebound of a shot by senior Brian Raveling (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional), with Holt also earning an assist on the gaol with 23:55 to go. The Blue Jays finished with a 15-6 edge in shots over the Knights (0-8-2 overall) and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Jeff Mullen (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) made two saves in goal for the Blue Jays, including a sensational stop on a shot by Arcadia's Matt Benner with 5:21 remaining in the contest. Herr Field on Friday night. Junior Wes Bunting (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) and first-year student Taylor Helsel (Glen Rock, PA/Susquehannock) also scored for the Blue Jays (7-2-0 overall, 1-0-0 Commonwealth), who won their sixth straight home match this season and ninth consecutive overall dating to last season. Elizabethtown took a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the first half as Helsel took a short pass from Diller and scored his first goal of the season, with senior Zach Galbraith (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) also assisting. The Blue Jays pushed the lead to 2-0 at the 16-minute mark when Bunting headed home a cross by senior Steve Petrosky (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central), and took the lead to halftime. It has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Ira R. Herr Field. The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed due to heavy rain and lightning. With Thursday's forecast calling for more thunderstorm activity in the evening, the contest was moved back one day to Friday. Herr Field. The women's soccer team will host FDU-Florham at 4:30 p.m. followed by the men's soccer team playing Arcadia University at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free to all Blue Jay soccer games. All children who attend either contest will have the opportunity to win prizes, including soccer balls and equipment bags, during a halftime shootout sponsored by Star Soccer Academy. Back to top 9/26/2007 Wednesday's match vs Albright postponed until Thursday at 7pm ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER Wednesday, September 26, 2007 Men's Soccer Match vs. Albright Postponed Due to Rain, Lightning ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Wednesday night's Commonwealth Conference men's soccer match between Albright College and host Elizabethtown College has been postponed due to rain and lightning, and has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Ira R. Herr Field. Approximately 20 minutes before the scheduled 7:00 p.m. kickoff, a line of heavy rain and frequent lightning passed over the Elizabethtown area, forcing the teams to abandon warmups. After a delay of over 90 minutes, the contest was called off. The Blue Jays (6-2-0 overall) will look to extend their home winning streak to nine matches while the Lions (3-3-2 overall) are unbeaten in their last three contests. This will be the conference opener for both squads. Herr Field. The goals by Filewicz erased a 1-0 halftime deficit and gave the Blue Jays (6-1-0 overall) their sixth consecutive victory and eighth straight home win dating to last season. The Mules (3-2-0 overall) led 1-0 at halftime after Brendan Carroll scored on a blast following a feed from Billy Dalton with 2:55 left in the opening half. However, the Blue Jays tied the score with 27:09 remaining as a cross by first-year student Adam Scheibeler (Montoursville, PA/Loyalsock Twp.) was played by senior Mike Helsel (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) over to Filewicz, who headed home his first career goal. Herr Field. Senior George Severini (Havertown, PA/Haverford) added a penalty-kick goal and assisted on the first goal by Diller as the Blue Jays (5-1-0 overall) earned their fifth consecutive victory and their seventh straight home win dating to last season. Morgan Davidheiser scored on a header in the 56th minute for the Crusaders (1-5-0 overall), who were outshot 17-6 in the hard-fought contest, which saw the two squads combine for 37 fouls and eight yellow cards. Severini gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead 19:32 into the match as he was taken down in the box and converted the ensuing penalty kick for his fifth goal of the season. The 1-0 lead held until early in the second half, when Diller played a beautiful header off a Severini free kick past Alvernia keeper Richard Kessler to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead with 36:28 to play. Just two minutes later, the Crusaders got on the scoreboard as a free kick by Tim Marcinek was headed home by Davidheiser to pull Alvernia within 2-1. Herr Field on Thursday evening.
Holt tallied his first goal of the year at 20:47 after a corner kick by first-year student Andrew Filewicz (Wenonah, NJ/Northeast Catholic) was played to junior Wes Bunting (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey), whose header went to Holt and on to the back of the net. The Blue Jays (4-1-0 overall), who won their fourth straight game, had to play the final 27 minutes, 36 seconds a man down after a red card was assessed following a hard foul. Despite several excellent scoring opportunities by the Rangers (3-2-0 overall), the Elizabethtown defense held on for the victory. Elizabethtown finished with a 9-7 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks over Drew. The Blue Jays finished with a 13-8 advantage in shots and took seven corner kicks compared to two by the Tigers. Junior Matt Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Mercersburg Academy) scored two goals and added an assist while senior Brian Raveling (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) notched a goal and an assist as the Blue Jays (2-1-0 overall) scored all four goals in a span of 23 minutes, 20 seconds early in the second half. After a scoreless first half, Diller put the Blue Jays ahead for good when he blasted a shot past Bearcat keeper Brandon Bower with 42:19 remaining in the contest. Senior Michael Terry (Beech Creek, PA/Central Mountain) extended the Etown lead to 2-0 with 36:13 to play as he took a touch pass from Diller and buried a shot from the top of the box. With 21:05 to go, Diller scored his second goal of the match and third of the season as he took a perfect crossing pass from Raveling and deposited the ball into the goal to give the Blue Jays a 3-0 edge. Raveling capped the scoring just over two minutes later as he took a through pass from freshman Taylor Helsel (Glen Rock, PA/Susquehannock) and found the net for a 4-0 lead with 18:49 left in the match. Elizabethtown finished with a commanding 21-7 edge in shots and took nine corner kicks versus one by Saint Vincent (1-2-1 overall). Severini scored three goals in two matches as the Blue Jays split a pair of matches at the season-opening Stevens Institute of Technology Classic in Hoboken, N.J. over the weekend. In a season-opening 2-1 loss to nationally-ranked New York University on Saturday, Severini netted the first goal of the match at the 26-minute mark to give Etown a 1-0 lead. He followed with a two-goal effort in a 3-0 victory over Skidmore College on Sunday, tallying both goals in the first 21 minutes. Elizabethtown (1-1-0 overall) kicks off its 2007 home schedule on Friday, Sept. 7 by hosting the 25th annual JAKO/Brothers Pizza Blue Jay Classic. Severini, who scored the only goal for the Blue Jays (1-1-0 overall) in a 2-1 loss to nationally-ranked New York University in the season opener on Saturday, tallied in the 12th and 21st minutes to give Elizabethtown a 2-0 lead. The first goal by Severini came at 11:56 as he deposited the rebound of a shot by first-year student Taylor Helsel (Glen Rock, PA/Susquehannock), while his second goal followed at 20:58 on a six-yard shot. After Elizabethtown (0-1-0) had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by senior George Severini (Havertown, PA/Haverford), Thayer scored at 25:58 and again at 58:54 off assists by Anthony Tumbiolo to give the Violets (1-0-0) the win. Severini's goal came at 23:17 as he headed home a corner kick from first-year player Andrew Filewicz (Wenonah, NJ/Northeast Catholic) to give the Blue Jays an early lead. New York University finished with a 21-10 advantage in shots while Elizabethtown took six corner kicks to five by the Violets.
