Elizabethtown Women's Lacrosse Picked Second in MAC Preseason Poll

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team has been picked to finish second in the Middle Atlantic Conference preseason coaches poll, as voted upon by the league's nine head coaches and released Tuesday.

The Blue Jays are coming off the best season in the program's six-year history, finishing 13-4 overall and in first place in the MAC with a perfect 10-0 record in 2007. However, Elizabethtown was upset in the MAC semifinals by FDU-Florham in overtime by an 11-10 score.

Head coach Mike Faith, who was honored as MAC Coach of the Year in 2007, welcomes back 11 starters and 17 letterwinners for his fourth year on the sidelines. Junior Katie Foley is the reigning MAC Player of the Year after netting 69 goals and 24 assists for 93 points, and sophomore Katie Caprinolo was named Rookie of the Year after tallying 44 goals last season.

Lycoming College earned the top spot in the poll with five first-place votes and 67 total points, followed by Elizabethtown with three first place-votes and 65 points. FDU-Florham is third at 62 points, followed by Messiah College at 56 points (one first) in fourth.

King's College (43 points), Widener University (39 points), MAC newcomer Manhattanville College (28 points), Wilkes University (25 points) and MAC newcomer Arcadia University (20 points) round out the poll.
