On offense, she scored two goals and three assists for seven points to finish her career with eight goals and 10 assists for 26 points in 58 games. The Blue Jays finished 17-4 overall and in third place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 3-2 record. Elizabethtown was ranked 13th in the final STX/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll. Back to top 11/13/2008 Three named to field hockey All-Conference team FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Thursday, November 13, 2008 Elizabethtown Places Three on All-Conference Field Hockey Team ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Three members of the Elizabethtown College field hockey team have been selected to the All-Commonwealth Conference team, as voted upon by the league's six head coaches and released Thursday.
DeMatteis led the Blue Jays with 17 goals and four assists for 38 points, including four multiple-goal games. She scored all four goals as the Blue Jays defeated Arcadia University 4-0 on Oct. 11, and tallied at least one goal in 11 of the team's 21 games.
Angstadt, a three-time second-team All-Conference selection, scored eight goals and eight assists for 24 points as the Blue Jays went 11-0 when she registered at least one point. For her career, she finished with 30 goals and 26 assists for 86 points in 79 games. Alex Wolfe of Lebanon Valley College was named conference Player of the Year, while Kourtney Ehly of Messiah College was Rookie of the Year and Jan Trapp of Messiah was Coach of the Year. Back to top 11/5/2008 Field hockey downed by LVC in conference semifinals ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY Lebanon Valley 4, Elizabethtown 0 ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Jocelyn Novak scored three goals to propel seventh-ranked Lebanon Valley College to a 4-0 victory over 13th-ranked Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference field hockey semifinal action on Wednesday afternoon.Novak scored in the sixth, 35th and 39th minutes for the Flying Dutchmen (18-2 overall), who advance to Saturday's conference final against top-ranked Messiah College, which defeated Widener University 7-0 in Wednesday's other semifinal game. Lauren Seidenstricker also scored for Lebanon Valley, which used two goals in the final 2:18 of the first half to turn a 1-0 lead into a 3-0 advantage at halftime. Novak opened the scoring at 5:05 as she took a through pass from Alex Wolfe and scored her 27th goal of the season. After Seidenstricker netted her third of the year on a rebound at 32:42, Novak knocked home a crossing pass by Wolfe with just 13 seconds left in the first half to give the Dutchmen a 3-0 lead. In the second half, Novak scored her 29th of the year at 38:50 as she tipped home a shot by Avery Carter, off a penalty corner by Shelly Lobach. Lebanon Valley finished with an 18-10 advantage in shots over the Blue Jays, and held a 14-7 edge in penalty corners despite allowing five in the final six minutes. Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College field hockey team is ranked 13th in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National
Coaches Poll for the fourth straight week, the NFHCA announced Tuesday. The Blue Jays (17-3 overall) concluded their regular season last week with wins over Susquehanna University (2-1) and Albright College (4-0), securing the third seed in this week's Commonwealth Conference playoffs. Elizabethtown's 17 wins are tied for the second-most in program history with the 1985 squad, trailing only the 20 victories recorded by the 1986 team.Messiah College moved into the top spot in this week's rankings, followed by Tufts University, Ursinus College, Bowdoin College and the College of New Jersey. The Blue Jays will play at seventh-ranked Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference semifinal. The winner will face the winner of Wednesday's other semifinal between Messiah and Widener University for the conference title on Saturday. Back to top 11/1/2008 Field hockey shuts out Albright, 4-0 ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY Elizabethtown 4, Albright 0 READING, Pa. --- Senior Andrea Miles (Phoenix, MD/Notre Dame Prep) and junior Brenna Noon (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) each finished with a goal and an assist as 13th-ranked Elizabethtown College closed its regular season with a 4-0 win over Albright College in Commonwealth Conference field hockey action on Saturday afternoon.Noon opened the scoring at 6:50 with her 13th goal of the season, assisted by Miles, and the Blue Jays went ahead 2-0 at 13:32 on the 17th goal of the season by DeMatteis. Miles fired home her 13th goal of the season at 27:15, assisted by Noon, as the Blue Jays took a 3-0 lead that they carried into intermission. Foster closed the scoring just 30 seconds into the second half with her second goal of the season on a penalty stroke. Elizabethtown finished with a 19-1 edge in shots and an 8-0 advantage in penalty corners over the Lions (4-14 overall, 1-4 Commonwealth). Junior Liz Hannegan (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) posted her seventh shutout of the season by making one save for the Blue Jays, and Kaitlyn Johnstone finished with 12 stops for the Lions. Vogel, a third-team selection, is the eighth Blue Jay player to earn All-America honors and the first since Mel Slessinger was named to the third team in 2005. Earlier this month, Vogel was named first-team All-South Atlantic Region and first-team All-Commonwealth Conference.
They helped the Blue Jays to a 17-4 overall record and third place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 3-2 mark. Elizabethtown was ranked 13th in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Coaches Poll, through games of Nov. 9.
