Four Blue Jays Named All-Conference in Women's Soccer

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team has had four players named to the All-Commonwealth Conference team, as voted upon by the league's seven head coaches and announced Friday.

A trio of seniors - forwards Brooke Dotterer (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and Jenna Russo (Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) and defender Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) were first-team selections while junior Erin Scott (West Chester, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was a second-team choice.

Together, they helped the Blue Jays to a 13-6-2 overall record and an appearance in the Commonwealth Conference finals for the third consecutive season.

Dotterer led the Blue Jays with 14 goals and seven assists for 35 points, scoring five game-winning goals. She tied a program record by scoring goals in five consecutive games from Oct. 15 through Oct. 30, and registered at least one points in 13 of the team's 21 games.

A four-time All-Conference selection, including a three-time first-team choice, Dotterer finished her Elizabethtown career ranked third in goals (47) and points (122) and eighth in assists (28) while starting all 84 games over the last four years.

Russo was named first-team All-Conference for the third straight year and is also a four-time All-Conference honoree. She finished with nine goals and five assists for 23 points, including three game-winning goals, had a five-game point streak late in the season in which she registered four goals and four assists.

She closed her Blue Jay career with 37 goals and 23 assists for 97 points, ranking fifth in goals and points and tied for 10th in assists.

Geiger, who was a second-team All-Conference pick last season, started all 21 games on defense and finsihed with two goals and two assists for six points. Her goal against Messiah College on Nov. 1 is the only goal allowed by the Falcons over an 11-game span since Oct. 1.

A four-year starter, Geiger tallied eight goals and four assists for 20 points in 83 games (73 starts), while helping the Blue Jays record 43 shutouts in 84 games.

Scott, a repeat second-team choice, posted three goals and four assists for 10 points in 20 games. She scored the game-winning goal late in double overtime as the Blue Jays defeated NCAA qualifier Moravian College 1-0 on Sept. 20, her first career overtime goal.

In three seasons, Scott has accumulated seven goals and eight assists for 22 points in 58 games, 45 of them starts.

Messiah, which placed six players on the first team and three on the second team, had the conference Player of the Year in midfielder Amanda Naeher, while Widener University's Brittany Harvis was the Rookie of the Year and Brian Sheehan took Coach of the Year honors.
