Back to top 3/29/2008 FDU-Florham uses second-half rally for 10-7 win over Blue Jays ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE Second-Half Rally Lifts FDU over Etown, 10-7 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Four different players scored two goals each as part of a game-ending 8-0 run that rallied FDU-Florham to a 10-7 victory over Elizabethtown College in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. Linda Bohn, Amanda Wayne, Laura Gambardello and Lindsey Specht scored two goals apiece for the Devils (7-1 overall, 1-0 MAC), who trailed 7-2 with 24 minutes remaining. Junior Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) netted a game-high three goals for the Blue Jays (3-3 overall, 0-1 MAC), who scored the game's first five goals and led 6-2 at intermission. Sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) scored twice for the Blue Jays, while sophomores Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) and Alisha Sangrey (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) tallied single goals. FDU-Florham finished with a 32-22 edge in shots in the contest, including a 20-7 margin in the second half, and benefitted from a 44-17 advantage in fouls. Wayne and Gambardello each led the Devils with three draw controls, while Trish McLeod and Specht shared the team high with three ground balls. First-year student Sarah Cullinan (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) posted four caused turnovers for the Blue Jays, and sophomore Caitlin Russell (White Hall, MD/North Harford) had three ground balls. Junior Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) had a strong effort in goal for Elizabethtown with 17 saves, while Christine Dunn tallied six stops for FDU. Sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) added four goals and two assists and first-year student Sarah Cullinan (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) chipped in with a goal and four assists for the Blue Jays (3-2 overall), who led 15-3 at halftime en route to setting a season high for goals. Kate Knitter and Emily Blatter each finished with two goals and an assist for the Gophers (1-6 overall), who scored the final three goals of the game to narrow the final score. Back to top 3/18/2008 Villa Julie holds on for 17-14 win over Elizabethtown ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE Villa Julie Holds Off Elizabethtown, 17-14 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Cat Connelly and Lisa Baker led a balanced Villa Julie College attack with three goals apiece as the Mustangs picked up a 17-14 victory at Elizabethtown College in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. Nine different players scored goals for the Mustangs (4-2 overall), who never trailed after overcoming an early 4-2 deficit with four straight goals against the Blue Jays (2-2 overall). Sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) led the Blue Jays with five goals and two assists, while sophomore Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) added four goals and an assist. Elizabethtown led 4-2 eight minutes into the contest, but Villa Julie scored seven of the game's next nine goals to take a 9-6 lead to halftime. The teams traded goals for the first 20 minutes of the second half, leaving the Blue Jays trailing 16-14 with 8:39 to go. However, Baker scored her third goal of the match with 2:05 left to clinch the win for the Mustangs. Back to top 3/12/2008 Blue Jays score first 14 goals en route to 18-4 win over Susquehanna ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE Blue Jays Jump to Big Lead, Cruise Past Susquehanna 18-4 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Junior Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) scored six goals on six shots as Elizabethtown College netted the game's first 14 goals en route to an 18-4 victory over Susquehanna University in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Wolf Field on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomores Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) and Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) chipped in with four goals apiece for the Blue Jays (2-1 overall), who led led 5-0 after just five minutes of action against the Crusaders (1-2 overall). Foley scored four times in the first 15 minutes of the match, and scored five times in the first half while Kreis and Byrnes tallied three times apiece as the Blue Jays led 14-1 at halftime. Junior Anna Ford (Salisbury, MD/Homeschooled) and first-year student Sarah Cullinan (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) each scored twice for the Blue Jays, while junior Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) dished out a pair of assists. PETERSBURG, Fla. --- Sophomore Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) scored with 1.1 seconds remaining as Elizabethtown College upset 16th-ranked University of Mary Washington 16-15 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday. Kreis led the Blue Jays (1-1 overall) with four goals as Elizabethtown posted the second victory over a nationally-ranked opponent in program history, following a 14-13 win over Lycoming College last season. Coincidentally, Kreis scored the tie-breaking goal with 21 seconds left in the win over Lycoming. Elizabethtown led 7-3 at halftime, but the Eagles (2-2 overall) scored 12 times in the second half to deadlock the contest at 15-15, setting up the late heroics by Kreis. Sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) added three goals for the Blue Jays while junior Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross), junior Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) and junior Anna Ford (Salisbury, MD/Homeschooled) tallied two goals apiece.
