Elizabethtown College Finishes 26th at NCAA Division III Golf Championships

BRASELTON, Ga. --- The Elizabethtown College golf team finished 26th out of 35 teams at the NCAA Division III Championships at the Chateau Elan Golf Resort, in their first-ever appearance at the national tournament.

The Blue Jays, who were tied for 22nd place after day one, shot 328 as a team on Wednesday to drop to 26th place. The top 23 teams made the cut for the final two rounds on Thursday and Friday.

Junior Mike Wagner (Allentown, PA/William Allen) was the top individual finisher for the Blue Jays, shooting an 80 on Wednesday to end the tournament with a 36-hole total of 159.

Senior Hunter Gross (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) had the team's lowest score in round two, carding a 78 to finish with a total of 160.

Sophomore Kurt Amen (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) shot 85 to reach a final score of 167, followed by first-year students Dan Senkler (Orlando, FL/Sanford School) at 172 and Geoff Quinque (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) with a 179.

St. John Fisher College leads the team standings with a two-day score of 596, six strokes on top of Oglethorpe University (602). Scott Harris of St. John Fisher remains the individual leader at 139, three strokes under par and four shots ahead of second-place Will Scarborough of Wesley College.

Elizabethtown College Tied For 22nd After Day One of NCAA Golf Championships

BRASELTON, Ga. --- The Elizabethtown College golf team is in a three-way tie for 22nd place after day one of the NCAA Division III Championships at the Chateau Elan Golf Resort, after shooting 323 as a team on Tuesday.

Playing the Chateau Course, the Blue Jays were led by first-year student Dan Senkler (Orlando, FL/Sanford School) who carded a six-over-par 77 and is tied for 44th overall. Junior Mike Wagner (Allentown, PA/William Allen) fired a 79 and is tied for 62nd place, while senior Hunter Gross (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) finished with an 82 to stand in a tie for 99th place.

Sophomore Kurt Amen (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) eagled the 13th hole and ended the round with an 85, while first-year student Geoff Quinque (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) came in with a 91.

The Blue Jays are tied for 22nd place in the team standings with Illinois Wesleyan University and Washington & Lee University. The University of La Verne shot 291 as a team to hold a 10-stroke lead over Skidmore College following day one. Scott Harris of St. John Fisher College is the individual leader after shooting 68 on Tuesday.

Play will continue on Wednesday as the Blue Jays compete in round two on the Woodlands Course. Following the second round, the field will be cut to the top 23 teams, who will finish the tournament with rounds three and four on Thursday and Friday.
