Back to top 6/10/2008 6/5/08: Erin Fisher Named First-Team Academic All-District in Track & Field FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Erin Fisher Named First-Team Academic All-District in Cross Country/Track and Field ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College All-American Erin Fisher (McEwensville, PA/Warrior Run) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine District 2 College Division All-Academic First Team in women's track & field/cross country, as voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and released Thursday. Fisher was named to the first team for the second consecutive year after a standout senior season in which she was named All-America in both track and field and cross country. As a first-team selection, she will advance to the national ballot with the winners to be announced on June 25. She was a third-team Academic All-America selection following the 2006-07 season. In cross country, Fisher finished 15th at the NCAA Division III championships to earn first-team All-America honors, and was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Mideast Region Athlete of the Year after winning the NCAA Mideast Regional title and her second straight MAC individual championship. In track and field, Fisher won the 5,000 meters at both the MAC indoor and outdoor championships, and also captured a gold medal in the distance medley relay at the indoor championships to help the Blue Jays to a second-place finish. She capped her career by placing seventh in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor championships to take All-America honors. Academically, Fisher graduated in May with a 3.98 cumulative grade-point average as a double major in biology and mathematics. She was the MASCAC Scholar-Athlete in cross country and was an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner. CoSIDA District 2's College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. To be nominated for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore academic standing with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.Back to top 6/5/2008 Erin Fisher named first team Academic All-District for a 2nd straight year
