Blue Jay men compete at Dickinson Long/Short Invitational

Elizabethtown 10th of 19 at Dickinson Long/Short Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's cross country team finished 10th overall at the Dickinson College Long/Short Course Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays were ninth out of 22 teams in the 4-kilometer short race and 12th out of 25 schools in the 8-kilometer long race forĀ  combined total of 200 points.

In the long race, first-year student Evan DeArmitt (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) was the Blue Jays' top finisher as he took 33rd with a time of 27:29.75. Senior Dylan Rulander (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) was 38th in 27:36.92 and junior Myles Lund (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) was 43rd in 27:41.78.

Rounding out the top five for Elizabethtown were first-year student Charlie Larsen (Phoenix, MD/Dulaney) in 49th place at 27:50.11 and first-year student Russell Speiden (Brookeville, MD/Sherwood) in 51st at 27:53.79.

In the short race, first-year student Eric Reichert (Hershey, PA/Hershey) was the Blue Jays' top finisher as he crossed the line 11th in a time of 12:32.93. Senior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) was 38th in 12:57.85, and first-year student Colby Miller (Oak Hill, VA/Flint Hill School) placed 48th in 13:09.55.

Also scoring for the Blue Jays were senior Scott Derkacz (Huguenot, NY/Port Jervis) in 66th place (13:22.38) and senior James Munnelly (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) in 74th place (13:28.65).

Host Dickinson took the overall team title with 47 points, followed by Carnegie Mellon (51 points) and Johns Hopkins University (88 points).

Etown finishes fifth at Waynesburg Invitational

Elizabethtown 5th of 13 at Waynesburg Invitational

WAYNESBURG, Pa. --- Competing on the course that will host the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional on Nov. 15, the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team finished fifth out of 14 teams at the Waynesburg University Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

For the second straight week, first-year student Eric Reichert (Hershey, PA/Hershey) led the Blue Jays across the line as he took ninth with a time of 26:48. Fellow first-year student Evan DeArmitt (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) was 17th in 27:20, while senior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) took 21st in a time of 27:25.

Rounding out the scoring for the Blue Jays were first-year student Charlie Larsen (Phoenix, MD/Dulaney) in 25th place (27:35) and senior Scott Derkacz (Huguenot, NY/Port Jervis) coming home 31st in 27:52.

Allegheny College won the meet with 27 points, followed by Messiah College (81 points), Salisbury University (83 points), Grove City College (100 points) and the Blue Jays (101 points).

Elizabethtown 5th of 14 at Lebanon Valley Invitational

FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's cross country team finished fifth out of 14 schools at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational held at Memorial Lake State Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Jays' top five finishers all crossed the finish line within a span of 18 seconds, while less than one minute elapsed between the first and ninth-place runners in the Elizabethtown lineup on the 8,000-meter course. All 12 of the Blue Jays' entries finished in the top half of the 173-runner field.

First-year student Eric Reichert (Hershey, PA/Hershey) was the Blue Jays' top finisher as he took 25th with a time of 27:59.42. Senior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) was close behind in 27th place at 28:05.30.

First-year student Evan DeArmitt (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) took 32nd place at 28:14.09, with junior Myles Lund (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) in 33rd at 28:14.64 and sophomore Chris Heisey (Middletown, PA/Middletown) coming home 36th in 28:17.93.

The University of Mary Washington was the team champion with a score of 47 points, followed by Messiah College with 49 points, Gettysburg College at 58 points, York College at 151 points and Elizabethtown at 152 points. Travis Stewart of Rutgers-Camden was the individual champion in a time of 26:19.74.
