Farver-Apgar and Bessie D. Apgar Biology Alumni Award is Dr. Lee Ann Van Houten-Sauter, '87. Presentation of the award will be made at Homecoming on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:30 pm in Gibble Auditorium located in the Masters Center for Science, Math and Engineering. A Biology Reunion will be held in the Atrium of the Masters Center immediately following the Alumni Award presentation. Back to top 9/15/2009 Faculty Search - Assistant Professor of Physiology Faculty Search - Assistant Professor of Physiology Elizabethtown College has a tenure-track position in the Biology Department at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2010. Candidates should be broadly trained in physiology, possess a Ph.D., and be committed to undergraduate teaching and research with significant student involvement. Teaching responsibilities include courses in general physiology, vertebrate comparative anatomy, and human anatomy & physiology. Back to top 3/3/2009 Annual Awards Banquet April 7th, 2009 The Biology Department will be holding its annual Awards Banquet on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in Myer Hall, Susquehanna Room at 6:30 pm. The following awards will be presented at that time: Dr. Benjamin G. and Vera B. Musser Pre-Medical Scholarship Thomas C. Conover Memorial Scholarship Rettew Scholarship Dr. Charles E. and Mary E. Farver-Apgar Memorial Biology Scholarship Biology Secondary Education Award Departmental Honors Award Outstanding Academic Achievement Award Back to top 3/3/2009 Dr. Bowne and Dr. Wohl awarded grant Dr. David Bowne and Dr. Debra Wohl were awarded their second Student Challenge Award grant by the Earthwatch Institute to lead a two-week summer research expedition. The grant will fund eight nationally recognized high school students to carry out research in Lancaster County. The research, titled "Mapping bacteria across a landscape," is a project designed to explain the spatial distribution of antibiotic resistance in bacteria. |
