HAVERFORD, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's track and field team competed at the Seamus McElligott Invitational on the campus of Haverford College on Saturday.

Senior Chelsea Miles (Media, PA/Penncrest) turned in a standout performance in field events, winning the high jump (4 feet, 11 inches) and the triple jump (33 feet, 10 3/4 inches) while taking second in the long jump (15 feet, 11 inches).

Sophomore Gabrielle Whitley (Lititz, PA/Warwick) finished second to Miles in the high jump after clearing 4 feet, 7 inches.

On the track, senior Amanda Daws (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) finished second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:36.29, followed by sophomore Kristen O'Brien (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) in fourth at 19:15.14.

Senior Tiffany Kulp (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) was third in the 800 meters (2:21.58), while junior Megan VanDenHengel (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) took sixth in a time of 2:25.93.

Junior Bernadette Frawley (Berwyn, PA/Sacred Heart) crossed the line sixth in the 400 meters in a time of 1:05.14, while first-year student Jill Patrick (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) was eighth in 1:05.91.

First-year student Nicole Lipari (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) finished seventh in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.25 seconds.

On Friday night, VanDenHengel, Miles, first-year student Kathryn Howser (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) and Kulp competed at the Penn State National Invitational, finishing the race in 12:27.46 for the fifth-best time in program history and ahead of the University of Pennsylvania.

After VanDenHengel opened with a 3:51 over 1,200 meters, it was Howser who impressed the coaching staff with a time of 2:24 for her 800-meter segment. Miles followed with a 62-second split in the 400 meters, while Kulp closed with a 5:07 over 1,600 meters.

"Kathryn had run a 2:34 in her only open 800m of the 2009 indoor season," said director of cross country and track and field Chris Straub. "But Coach Falk and I knew she was capable of a 2:24, and she delivered just that!"

Like the men's DMR, the women's DMR will head to the New Balance Collegiate Games at the New York City Armory next Friday in an attempt to better their time and take another crack at the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time.
