Angela Freeland, '09, Graduate Student Attends AOTA Capitol Hill Day!

Angela attended AOTA Capitol Hill Day in October. Following are her words to Dr. Carlson on her experience.

"As you know, I went to Washington D.C. this past Monday to attend the AOTA Capitol Hill Day event in order to complete the advocacy assignment for my OT 510:  Administration, Management, & Supervision class.  After the AOTA Capitol Hill Day briefing, I had the opportunity to meet with the staff of Congressman John Adler (D-NJ) and Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).  I presented each of them with the prepared packages from AOTA outlining our position regarding the proposed Health Care Reform bill.  On Saturday, I had the opportunity to speak personally with Congressman John Adler, and I presented him with a copy of the same packet of information. It was my honor to represent Elizabethtown College at the 2009 AOTA Capitol Hill Day".

Angela also had an American flag flown atop the United States Capitol Building on Monday, October 5, 2009 in honor of the Elizabethtown College Occupational Therapy Department. Angela  will be giving the flag and a certificate signed by Congressman Adler to Professor Waltermire at the end of the Fall '09 semester when she turns in her project.
