Back to top 5/20/2009 Dylan Rulander to run at NCAA Division III Track Championships FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday, May 20, 2009 Dylan Rulander to Compete at NCAA Division III Championships Rulander is one of 17 entries in the 800 meters, which will hold preliminaries on Friday at 4:40 p.m. and finals on Saturday at 2:50 p.m. A first-time competitor at nationals, he is seeded seventh in the field with a time of 1:51.33 and will run in the first of three heats. The top two finishers in each heat, along with the next two fastest runners, will compete in Saturday's final. Elizabethtown has had at least one competitor at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in each of the last seven years, and eight times in the last nine years. Since the program was revived in 1999, the Blue Jays have had 11 outdoor and eight indoor All-Americans, including five in the 800 meters. Back to top 5/12/2009 Men's track vies for qualifying marks at Swarthmore ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD Monday, May 11, 2009 Elizabethtown at Swarthmore Last Chance Meet SWARTHMORE, Pa. --- Members of the Elizabethtown College men's track and field team competed at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Monday evening. Senior Dylan Rulander (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) won his section of the 800-meter run and finished ninth overall with a time of 1:51.99. It was the third time this season that Rulander has broken 1:52, and he is currently ranked seventh in Division III with a time of 1:51.33 set April 17 at Princeton University. In the 5,000 meters, senior Scott Derkacz (Huguenot, NY/Port Jervis) set a personal record by 12 seconds in his final collegiate race with a time of 15:35.60, followed by senior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) in 15:36.00. Sophomore Chris Heisey (Middletown, PA/Middletown) took 18th in the event with a time of 15:26.41. Junior Wyatt Eaton (York, PA/Eastern York) was timed in 11.30 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.51 seconds in the 200 meters, while first-year student Chris Niles (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.42 to move into 10th place in the school's all-time rankings. In field events, junior Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) finished eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 136 feet, 11 inches (41.73 meters), and junior Mike Torre (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) threw 162 feet, 7 inches (49.56 meters) in the javelin. |
