Women's track sends athletes to Swat Last Chance Meet

Elizabethtown at Swarthmore Last Chance Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. --- Members of the Elizabethtown College women's track and field team competed at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Monday evening.

Senior Amanda Daws (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) broke the 37-minute barrier in the 10,000 meters with a time of 36:57.32, leaving her 23rd on the NCAA Division III performance list. Daws ran 5-kilometer splits of 18:34 and 18:23 en route to become the third Etown runner to run sub-37 minutes in the 10,000 meters and drop her personal record by four seconds.

Junior Tiffany Kulp (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge), who is currently ranked 16th in Division III in the 5,000 meters, ran 17:56.12 to finish sixth in the event, while first-year student Kathryn Howser (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) posted a season-best time of 2:15.90 in the 800 meters to move within less than a second of the school record of 2:15.15 held by Katie Garner.

Senior Chelsea Miles (Media, PA/Penncrest) posted a season best in the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 1 3/4 inches (1.57 meters) to finish in fifth place. In the discus, sophomore Sarah DeGeorge (Butler, PA/Butler) recorded a throw of 101 feet (30.79 meters).

Sophomore Allie Gold (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) took over 10th place on the school's all-time list in the 100 meters with a time of 13.50 seconds, and in the 100-meter hurdles she was clocked in a time of 15.99.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Miles, first-year student Jill Patrick (Pitman, NJ/Pitman), junior Bernadette Frawley (Berwyn, PA/Sacred Heart) and Howser bettered their season-best time by finishing in 4:03.11, remaining seventh on the school's all-time list in the event.
