Gretna Music presents Grammy-winning pianist at Elizabethtown College March 17
Pablo Ziegler Trio for Nuevo Tango performs Astor Piazzolla's masterworks in Leffler Chapel and Performance Center
One week after performing in Buenos Aires, Grammy award-winning Pablo Ziegler brings his talents to Leffler Chapel and Performance Center at Elizabethtown College. The Pablo Ziegler Trio for Nuevo Tango infuses a unique blend of originality, classic tango rhythms, jazz improvisation, artistry and sensuality into composer Astor Piazzolla's masterworks at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17.
Ziegler, a world-renowned pianist, studied at the Buenos Aires Music Conservatory and, due to his extensive work with Piazzolla from 1978 to 1989, he is the leading expert of the Nuevo Tango. He began playing with jazz groups at the age of 14 and performed solo at 18. Last year the trio played across the United States, in Argentina, throughout Japan, in the Netherlands and in Germany. Ziegler's 2005 album, Bajo Cero, earned a Latin Grammy award for Best Tango Album.
Student admission for this con is free with E-town ID on the night of the concert. Faculty and staff admission is $5 with E-town ID on the night of the concert. General admission is $15 to $25.
