Elizabethtown College Athletics website redesigned

Elizabethtown College officially re-introduced its athletics website, www.etownbluejays.com, Friday, Aug. 24. Pairing with Syracuse-based athletic website provider SIDEARM Sports, Elizabethtown's athletic home on the web got a brand new look and many new features.

The College's fresh athletic identity, unveiled in fall 2010, is front and center on the homepage and sport pages throughout the site.

"I am extremely pleased with the new look of our website. SIDEARM Sports has done a fantastic job of assisting us in enhancing the College's athletic profile. This process to re-design the site started back in April and included months of research and planning on our end. Once we took our very specific wish list to SIDEARM, its designers and developers took care of bringing our ideas to life. The results speak for themselves," said Director of Athletic Communications Matthew Heffelfinger.

Among the enhancements are features such as built in video and YouTube players, built-in social media networks and a new "Athletes of the Week" section. Navigation to pages containing vital information is quicker and easier, as well. Visitors will notice an expanded photo and story presence on the homepage and sport-specific pages upon entering the site. The homepage and sport-specific pages feature seven rotating stories each, meaning timely material will not get bumped from the pages as quickly as it did with v1.0 of the website.

"I definitely wanted the new version of the website to pop and be full of life, and I believe it accomplishes those two things. An expanded main story bank and larger imagery on the homepage were key aspects of the re-design, putting even more of a focus on our student athletes and coaches, and their accomplishments. The new site is also much more user-friendly from a navigation standpoint. Less clicks to get to important information," said Heffelfinger.

The re-launch of the athletics site is version 2.0 with SIDEARM Sports. Elizabethtown's initial web design with the company lasted from the 2009-10 academic through last week's launch. Prior to signing on with SIDEARM Sports, Elizabethtown hosted its own athletics site, known as the Elizabethtown Sports Net.

"There's plenty to explore on the new etownbluejays.com and new content is always being developed, so we hope you'll pay the site frequent visits and enjoy all that is there to see!" invites Heffelfinger.
