’52 John Brunner (See Class of ’54).

’54 William Foster submitted the

following update: “My wife,

Shirley Junkin Foster , and I have been on campus three times in the last five years and have enjoyed seeing how terrific the campus appears and the new buildings and surrounding area. Shirley Young Uhazie is living in Harrisburg, Pa. Shirley and I did our student teaching together at Middletown High School in the Business Department. Her first teaching assignment was in Central Dauphin High School, staying in the Business Department. E-town alumnus

John Brunner ’52 was there at Central Dauphin as the school district’s first basketball coach. She and her husband have one son, and they have basically stayed in the Harrisburg area. Shirley retired from teaching in 1993. Harold “Hal” Wilson is living in Walnut Creek, Calif.—about 15 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge and the same distance from the University of California, Berkley. Hal was a guard on the basketball team for the Blue Jays as well as second baseman in baseball. I mention Berkley, as he enjoys working as an usher at the home basketball games there. He volunteers at the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Hal served in the U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston. He was a park ranger at Yosemite and spent 24 years working for Allyn & Bacon Publishing in New York.”

“Judeo-Christian Dialogue in Germany and Poland” to the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America organization of Hill Lutheran Church.

William Bair writes, “I would like to thank Elizabethtown College for giving me a chance. With a ‘general’ high school curriculum—no chemistry or language— and mediocre grades, Elizabethtown accepted me. The small college atmosphere, good faculty and peers enabled me to meet requirements to transfer my senior year to Duke University, which led to a master’s degree from Duke.” William can be reached at 828-381-0633 or bair.bill@gmail.com . Carol Bush Blanck writes, “I have many fond memories of classmates, teachers and classes—and hockey games, too. John and I have three children—John Jr.; Christine, married to Marty Hepler; and Jennifer. And we have two little granddaughters—Livi is 6 and Tori is 4. They keep us laughing! We both look forward to returning to the campus and seeing everyone.” Carol can be reached at 717-665-5618 or jcblanck@ dejazzd.com . Gerald Bongart can be reached at 717-761-0432 . N. Elizabeth Forrer Bush writes, “Choosing

Elizabethtown College was one of the best decisions of my life. It was here that I received the skills and confidence needed for my career as an elementary school teacher. Many of my E-town acquaintances have developed into lifelong friendships. Also, it was here at the ‘match factory’ that I met the student to whom I was married for 49 years.” Elizabeth can be reached at 717-766-8870 or ebush456@ comcast.net . Ruth Carroll Coakley writes, “After graduation, I moved to Annandale, Va., with my husband, Bill. We lived in that area for 43 years, where we raised our two daughters, Robin Daniel and Rhonda Huckabee. I was employed as an instructor in the Secretarial Science Department at Northern Virginia Community College from 1970 to 1987. Since Bill’s retirement in 1992, we have traveled extensively world-wide, including Europe; Asia; Africa; North, South and Central Americas; New Zealand; Australia; Mexico; Canada; the Caribbean; the South Pacific and the Holy Land. In June 2010, we took our family on a cruise to Bermuda to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary! We are grateful that we are in good health and still able to continue traveling. In 2004, we moved to Lancaster County, Pa. We now live in Lititz and are glad to be back ‘home.’ We are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster. I enjoy participating in a Bible study and a book club there. We also are involved with Stonecroft Bible Ministry, Marriage Encounter and Susquehanna Valley Couples Connection. Since living in Pennsylvania, I have had

Sandra Lutz Coleman writes, “One of my fondest memories is of my freshman year living in Alpha Hall. We Alpha Hall girls bonded very quickly. For many of us, it was the first time we were truly on our own, and some of us began ‘trying our wings’ immediately. Strange as it may seem, I really enjoyed the mild
