Promoting Your Website
Once your website is live, you will want to let people know it is available. Here are some ideas:
- Request it be added to your contact information on existing bio page on department's website
- Add URL to email signature
- Add URL to your CV, business cards and other printed materials which you may distribute
- Add URL to your social media sites
Elizabethtown College recognizes that an online presence is important for faculty members, including sharing publications, upcoming presentations and CV information with colleagues and the media.
We offer faculty and staff members a user-friendly, turn-key option using Wordpress which provides a common template to ensure all pages are visually consistent. The URL these website will also be consistent: facultysites.etown.edu/your-name.
When you request a website, you will be delivered log-in credentials along with a website pre-populated with standard navigation and pages as seen in the above example; just fill in the blanks with your content, such as a photo and biography.
NOTE: The requesting faculty member is responsible for his or her own content and management of the website. OMC does not provide training and support services--only the initial set-up. However, a link to Wordpress training resources also will be provided in your "welcome email" to help you get started. Elizabethtown's ITS department also periodically holds Wordpress training workshops. (View current schedule.)
Note that faculty members wishing to build their own website from scratch may still do so through the users account.
