The Elizabethtown College feld hockey team

proved once again that it is amongst the Com-monwealth Conference’s best. Playing in a league loaded with some of NCAA Division III’s top talent, E-town captured 10 wins last fall. It was the seventh straight season that the Jays won 10 games or more, all winning seasons. E-town is riding a streak of seven consecutive seasons of league playoff appearances. In addition, the 2006 squad made the program’s frst trip to the NCAA Division III tournament since 1988.

Success has been an enduring legacy of the feld hockey program, highlighted by the 1961 squad that won all eight of its games without allowing a single goal. The ’61 team is the only team in school history to go undefeated and unscored upon, and as such they were enshrined into the Ira R. Herr Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989.

For the past three seasons, the program has been under the guidance of former player, Brandy Michael. Michael’s E-town teams have been to the postseason in each of her three seasons. The program’s most-recent All-American selection is defender Tiffany Vogel ’09, who was named in 2008. Fourteen former players have been inducted into the College’s athletic hall of fame.
