Elizabethtown College has felded a men’s tennis team since 1947 and has compiled over 400 victories and an overall winning record in the ensuing 65 seasons. Bob Garrett served as the team’s coach for 21 seasons (1968-88) and amassed 136 victories, while current coach Matt Helsel ’07 has completed nine seasons and claimed 103 victories along with the 2005 and 2011 Commonwealth Conference team championships.

Manrique Arrea ’12 may yet put a new name at the top of the career singles wins list. Arrea has 14 or more singles victories in each of his three seasons with the Blue Jays. He’s just 16 wins shy of tying Walker’s mark heading into his senior season. Arrea had a stellar 2010-11 season as he claimed his second Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year honor and a spot on the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team for a third consecutive season.

The 2005 team became the frst conference cham-pionship squad in program history, and the Blue Jays followed up with runner-up fnishes in 2007, 2009 and 2010. The program returned to the top of the mountain this past spring, downing Lycom-ing on its home courts for a second conference championship. E-town also made its frst ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2011, fnishing the year 13-6.

Wieger Moen became the frst Blue Jay to earn a MAC singles championship in 1998, followed by Greg Voshell ’05, and Josh Miller ’05 in 2005. Arrea added his name to that list with a No. 1 singles title at the MAC Individual Championships in the fall of 2010.
