The Elizabethtown College women’s tennis team has enjoyed a sustained period of excel-lence that has resulted in seven consecutive trips to the Commonwealth Conference fnals and fve championships. Head coach Matt Helsel ’07 has guided the Blue Jays to a 110-39 record in his eight seasons as head coach, including a perfect 14-0 record in 2004. He is the only coach in school history to win 100 career matches with both the men’s and the women’s programs.

This past season, Elizabethtown won 12 matches en route to its second straight Commonwealth Conference title. There, Alena Marani ’13 claimed tournament MVP honors. The Blue Jays, led by four all-conference selections, made their third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.

The women’s tennis program enjoyed a successful history, capturing MAC crowns in 1983 and1995, and has adding fve Commonwealth Conference championships since 2004.

Elizabethtown has had nine MAC singles cham-pions and won fve doubles crowns since 1994, most notably in 2005 when Heather Lander ’07 and Kristy Trimbey ’06 won their respective fight championships in singles then teamed to win a doubles title as well.
