Now in its third decade, the Elizabethtown Col-lege softball program continues to knock on the door as a Commonwealth Conference contender. The Blue Jays have made three trips to the conference tournament in the last fve seasons, including a runner-up fnish in 2008.

The Blue Jays are owners of 468 wins all-time, including 19 during the 2011 campaign. Five straight double-digit win seasons have highlight-ed E-town’s rise to contender. The program, which inaugurated in 1979, is responsible for producing two Middle Atlantic Conference Championships and an NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.

E-town, which plays its home games at “The Nest,“ has placed 70 players on all-conference teams and 15 on all-region teams in its history. Amongst the all-region players is active infelder Elly McCarthy ’13, who is already tied for the program’s career home run record with 15, and catcher Courtney Comstock ’13.

“The Nest” features dugouts, a permanent outfeld fence, an electronic scoreboard in right feld and bleacher seating for spectators down the frst and third base lines. The Blue Jays have won 23 games at their home feld in the last three seasons, fnishing at or above .500 in each.

» The Blue Jays placed two players on the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team in 2011. » Kathy Staib became second coach in program history to eclipse 100 career victories.

» Team placed at least one player within the top-fve of the conference in the categories of runs scores, runs batted in, triples, home runs, total bases and stolen bases in 2011. » Nine players earned spots on the 2011 MAC Spring Academic Honor Roll.
