Head coach Bob Schlosser ushered in a new era of Elizabethtown College men’s basket-ball when he arrived at the school for the 1990-91 season. Since then, the Blue Jays have become yearly threats to win the Commonwealth Conference. Schlosser has taken the program to 15 conference tournaments in 21 seasons on the E-town sideline.

Though the program entered its 84th season in 2011-12, the program’s shining moment undoubtedly came during the 2001-02 season. The Jays ripped through the Commonwealth Conference to a 13-1 record and captured the program’s frst league title since 1979. E-town pulled out nail-biting victories in three straight NCAA Division III Tournament games to reach the national semifnals. An overtime win against Rochester placed the Blue Jays in the national championship game, where they would fnish as runners-up to Otterbein. With a 29-3 overall record and a national ranking that climbed into the top-fve, the 2001-02 squad has yet to be matched in either wins or ranking.

Winning basketball continues to come from within the walls of Thompson Gymnasium, as Elizabeth-town made two more NCAA Tournament trips following the magical run in the early 2000s. The Blue Jays have been to four conference champion-ship games and three conference semifnals in the last decade. Three times they walked away with the conference crown.

Elizabethtown’s history is marked by 44 win-ning seasons. The program is just 51 wins shy of 1,000 all-time. Schlosser is responsible for nearly one-third of E-town’s all-time victories, having collected 325 of them in 21 seasons.
